What to buy for someone who loves camping
We all know someone who loves camping. Someone who disappears off for quiet weekends, or longer, in their cosy home-from-home and returns full of joy and sunshine (regardless of the actual weather). They love it so much, it's the only kind of gift you can think about getting them, but what can you buy for them that's unique, practical, stylish and fun?
I have a few ideas that might help if you're looking for great camping gifts.
Glamping Accessories
Almost all of my camping buddies are in reality, "glampers". They camp in relative luxury in their motorhomes or caravans and lean a little more towards style than practicality. That's not to say they don't enjoy a practical gift, but the Glampers I know are most likely to favour decorations and accessories, such as glamping lights and bunting.
So, first on this list of gift ideas is this little box of joy. Delight your camping pal with 5m fairy lights and multicoloured bunting. Just insert batteries and add instant sparkle and colour to your pitch.
Happy Camper Gifts
Now these glampers that you and I know, do they talk about their motorhome or caravan being their happy place? I suspect they don't need to because they always exude happiness when they talk of their wobble box adventures.
Well, we have an array of gifts for happy campers here - probably because we are big happy campers ourselves - in the form of mugs, travel mugs and shopping bags.
Camping Picnic Sets
Earlier in 2024 I carried out a little bit of market research with the kind and knowledgable folks from the Facebook group Motorhome Happiness. I received 87 votes for top camping gadgets and gizmos and not unexpectedly, most votes were food-related (preparation, eating or otherwise). Now this is where our glampers start to look at practicality as well as style, because you do need tableware that travels well (ie doesn't break easily), is compact, looks good and does the job.
This pop-up cool box has been very popular with festival-goers. It keeps food and drink cool, just like a traditional cool box, and then collapses down for easy storage.
Also on our festival camping essentials list, are our compact, pack away, plastic, wine glasses. We discovered an added and welcome bonus with these, in that the wide base makes them difficult to knock over, unlike many other lightweight camping glasses!
My personal favourite, pictured beyond the wine glasses, is the folding chip and dip platter. Camping snacks always feature in the planning and shopping and are often amongst the first items to be cracked open on arrival at the pitch. With this bamboo table platter, you can present your favourite snacks and dips on top and rest your wine glasses in the handy glass holders on the side.
Camping in Winter
There are an array of plug-in gadgets available to help you keep warm on your pitch in the winter months. Personally, I favour having a flow of warm drinks at hand. Stop boiling the kettle and keep your fluids hotter for longer with a hot/cold water bottle or travel mug. Or simply give one of our uniquely designed enamel camping mugs a hug (whilst filled with you favourite hot camping juice).
These are just a handful of the great camping gift ideas out there. Remember if you're buying for someone who loves camping in their motorhome, caravan or camper, think about ways to enhance their experience with less practical and more decorative items. If you know a glamper who seems to have everything imaginable, you will find an array of uniquely designed camping gifts over on the new-in-2024 Pitch Up and Chill website.
